East Hampton - The Retreat is launching their 16th Annual Artists Against Abuse Gala on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Ross School Lower Campus Field House. This year, Maria McBride and Russell Kolody of Maria McBride Productions, will transform the Field House into our very own luxury liner - taking us on a journey not to be missed.

Arrive at the Field House for a quick passport check-in. Once "on board," sip your favorite cocktail and take your time perusing the generous selection of silent auction items (trips, wine parties, private chef dinners), including 11 x 14 original works of art by hand selected local artists. In addition, before the bidding wars ensue, you be able to preview the art for the live art auction during dinner.

When you hear the distinctive ship's horn announcing our departure, proceed to the Dining Room for the Captain's Dinner where you will enjoy a sumptuously prepared sit down dinner, prepared by local chef Peter Ambrose of Food for Forks. After a quick welcome from your Captain and Crew, we will bestow the Hope Award to a couple of well deserving guests. Once your palate has been quenched the live art auction will begin offering artwork from some of the most renowned artists in the world.

The Retreat is the only domestic violence agency on the East End of Long Island offering comprehensive services to both women and children. More than ever, the agency needs community-minded organizations, businesses and individuals like you to come on board and help us chart the course to end the cycle of family violence. This is an important opportunity to show support to the women and children experiencing the nightmare of domestic violence - help them find their way to a life free of abuse.

In addition, we will be presenting our Hope Award to extraordinary individuals who have greatly impacted our organization. Mariska Hargitay: Actress, Activist, Founder and President Joyful Heart Foundation. Hargitay's passion and dedication to the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault are unparalleled. Kenneth P. LaValle: New York State Senator. Senator LaValle has led the fight to combat Domestic Violence.

Gina Giordan Glickman, Entertainment Reporter and host/creator of the popular, star-studded entertainment series, "In the Mixx," will be joining us as Master of Ceremonies, and the evening's Live Art Auctioneer is the charming Sara Friedlander of Christie's Auction House.
