Stockard Channing, aka the original Rizzo of Rydell High (although we did love Vanessa Hudgens in FOX’s live “Grease” adaptation), recently found a new love courtesy of a helping Hamptons friend. The actress, who was just devastated about the passing of Fanula, her elderly pit mix, connected with Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue Founder Michelle Montak who thought of Kony, a pit bull mix that was scheduled to be euthanized in a North Carolina shelter.
Once the founder of the Sagaponack-based shelter showed Channing a photo of the pup that was just adored by the shelter’s employees, the actress declared, “We have to save this boy.” Gimme Shelter organized the dog’s journey from the North Carolina shelter to New York, where Kony (now called Benny) met his new mom. It’s reported that the pit bull mix has adapted well to his new home. “He is a darling,” Channing told Gimme Shelter. “[He’s] such a great dog. He is curled up on the bed with me now.”
