The Parrish Art Museum will host The Summer Family Luau on Thursday, August 25, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. This spirited event will be overflowing with fresh island fare, vibrant art workshops, traditional music, and dazzling ancient dances by The Barefoot Hawaiians, who have enchanted audiences world-wide for more than 28 years.
Audiences will be mesmerized by the thundering sounds of the island drums and vivid traditional costumes as the Barefoot Hawaiians present the fiery twirl of the Samoan fire knife dance, the Poi Balls Dance from New Zealand and the Hula.
The evening features a full dinner, drinks, entertainment, and a variety of fun activities for families including hula dance lessons with the performers and art workshops for children to create flower leis and grass skirts. Attendees should plan to wear their favorite Hawaiian costume.
The event is being held in a tent on the Parrish Art Museum's west garden lawn. Tickets for adult museum members are $75 and $125 for non-members. Children's tickets are $25. All adult tickets at the door will be $150. The Summer Family Luau benefits the museum's ongoing educational programs. For tickets, call 631-283-2118, ext. 41.
The Summer Family Luau Co-Chairs are Cristina and Christopher Cuomo, Whitney and James Fairchild and Alex and Nathaniel Kramer.
