Southampton - Walter Stockton, CEO of IGHL, will receive the prestigious David Award.

Stockton will be among the eight 2012 David Award honorees who will be recognized at a special program and breakfast taking place on Thursday morning, January 19, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, Long Island.

The David Awards, presented annually by Networking Magazine, honor "Renaissance men dedicated to their community who excel in business or academics and also accomplish outstanding heroic and humanitarian acts." The David Awards, according to Networking Magazine, are named after Michelangelo's statue of David, the giant slayer and the ideal Renaissance man.

Stockton, who is also President of the Quogue School Board, joins an 'A List' of businessmen and philanthropists being honored including Senator Alfonse D'Amato, former New York Jets Marty Lyons, Founder of the Marty Lyons Foundation, Jim McCann, President and CEO, 1-800-FLOWERS and Michael J. Dowling, President and CEO, North Shore LIJ Health System.

IGHL is dedicated to helping individuals who are developmentally disabled and their families. Since 1978, Stockton has led IGHL as their President and CEO with efforts including over 50 residential programs on Long Island, day habilitation programs and the Kuhn Opportunity Center in Manorville. Stockton and his team have expanded IGHL's outreach to include the New Interdisciplinary School, which is a creative learning center for children; Angela's House, caring for medically frail children; the Flower Barn, which trains and employs individuals with development disabilities. IGHL also manages the TWA Flight 800 Memorial at Smith Point on Long Island. Stockton serves as the President of the Alliance of Long Island Agencies, a group of 25 agencies on Long Island which provide services to people with developmental disabilities.

"To be recognized for being a Renaissance man and a humanitarian as a David Award recipient is the highest honor," says Stockton. "And to be among the eight men, all stars in their perspective areas, is very special!"

The breakfast is sponsored by Bank of America. To purchase tickets to attend the breakfast program, call Networking Magazine at 631-288-1586, ext. 110 or 111 or click below, or call IGHL at 631-878-8900.
