Do you know a service couple that are about to start planning their nuptials? Peconic Landing
and several East End establishments are looking to help give them an all-expenses paid, stress free, dream wedding as part of the Veteran's Day Wedding Giveback.
To qualify, applicants must have at least one partner who is serving or served in the US Armed Forces, submit a written reference from commanding officer if still serving or proof of honorable discharge, be available for an in-person or Skype interview, and agree to sign a media/photo release form.
Peconic Landing created the Annual Veteran's Day Wedding Giveback in 2011 as an opportunity to show appreciation to our military personnel and commemorate their service to our country. "For all of the sacrifices our local service men and women make, we are proud to provide a deserving couple with this special day," said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. The contest is a community effort, as local businesses help make the wedding possible by contributing their time, talents and services. "This effort would not be possible without the support of our local business partners," added Syron. Approximately $60,000 worth of services and in-kind gifts are donated per wedding.
SSgt. Robert Surozenski of the United States Marine Corps and his wife Sara LeDonne were the 2015 winners and the newlyweds said it was an unforgettable soiree. "The Veteran's Day Wedding Giveback provided us with a dream wedding, offering us a high-end venue, food, entertainment, decor and services that we would not have been able to obtain or afford on our own," said Sara. "The best part of the day for me was the ceremony, everything went so smoothly and Brecknock has such beautiful curb appeal. Everybody worked so hard for us, and we are forever grateful." The Surozenskis, who are happily settling into married life, are pleased to announce that they are currently awaiting the arrival of their first child together, a daughter.
The wedding will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016, in celebration of Veteran's Day, and will accommodate up to 80 attendees. As of right now, vendors include American Tent, A Flippin' Good Time, Allison G. Pressler Professional Skin Care, Christopher Michael Catering, Beautiful by Katy & Dina, East End Events Catering, East End Expressions, Fire Monkey Hair Design, Kim Jon Designs, Macari Vineyards, Southold Fish Market, and Spina Brides, who will be providing the event's pièce de résistance, the bridal gown.
The lucky love birds will be chosen by a panel of Peconic Landing's veteran residents who will assess entries based on the number of years served, special military honors, contributions to the community and each couple's personal love story. The application deadline
is Friday, April 29th, and couples who have previously entered the contest are allowed to re-enter.
Additional sponsorships are still available. For more information, contact Valerie Tirelli, Brecknock Hall Sales & Events Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org
