has integrated a highly versatile piece of equipment into their physical therapy and rehabilitation program, called the Biodex Unweighing System.
The Biodex Unweighing System enables partial weight-bearing therapy to be conducted with the assurance of patient comfort and safety, and with convenient access to the patient for manual assistance and observation. Utilizing the Unweighing System, physical therapists are able help patients recover strength, balance and range of motion following surgery, injury and illness. The Unweighing System, unlike the simple patient lift devices, incorporates a dynamic suspension system that accommodates the vertical displacement of the center of gravity that occurs during normal gait - helping patients regain their confidence, strength and stride.
The Biodex Unweighing System incorporates a rehabilitation program that assists older adults, orthopedic patients, neurologic and vestibular patients, patients suffering from stroke/traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation of a lower extremity or Parkinson's Disease, achieve functional activity recovery.
"The Biodex Unweighing System enhances our treatment strategies and increases our goal of successful patient outcome while maximizing patient safety. Reducing a patient's fear of falling and creating a feeling of security allows that patient to achieve a more independent quality of life", said Don Doherty
