North Fork Breast Health Coalition (NFBHC) will commemorate a milestone achievement - the non-profit's 20th anniversary - during the Fourth Annual Pink Pearl Gala on Friday, April 27. The celebratory soiree at East Wind will pay tribute to survivors, providers, caregivers and NFBHC supporters.
"We are looking forward to celebrating 20 years of service to breast cancer patients and survivors on the North Fork and in the Riverhead area," NFBHC Vice President and Event Chair Melanie McEvoy reflected. "This is an opportunity to thank all of the volunteers, service providers, businesses and medical professionals who have supported our efforts throughout these years."
The Fourth Annual Pink Pearl Gala will get underway at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by a seated dinner, and then it's time to hit the dance floor.
News 12 Long Island Reporter Shari Einhorn, who often covers health-related stories, will return as the Pink Pearl Gala emcee. Einhorn has been lauded for her work and honored with several local awards, including the prestigious Emmy
award for her "Kicking Butt" coverage of a group of smokers attempting to quit.
The North Fork Breast Health Coalition is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that was founded by Ann Cotten-DeGrasse and her late husband, Antonio, in 1998. Led by President Susan Ruffini, the group aids local breast-cancer patients through programs like Helping Hand grants, a one-time grant that can be used for services like transportation expenses, house cleaning, meal, or even a day of pampering at a spa. Proceeds from the Pink Pearl Gala - which was named in honor of the late Pearl Philindas, a past president of the coalition, will allow NFBHC to continue to support breast-cancer patients and survivors by offering complimentary services such as gentle yoga, reflexology, meditation class and massage therapy.
Admission to the Pink Pearl Gala is $125 per person and $95 for breast-cancer survivors.
