On Saturday, September 24th at 11 a.m., the Merry Merfolk Parade will bring mythical mermaids, mermen, pirates, and creatures of the sea to the streets of Greenport. Sirens' Song Gallery, with the support of the Greenport BID, is presenting this exciting East End Maritime Festival festivity.

"The purpose of the Merry Merfolk Parade is to raise awareness of the importance of our marine environment, in a fun and whimsical way," explained Kimberly Barbour, Marine Program Outreach Manager at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County (CCE).

East End Maritime Festivalgoers of all ages can participate in the Parade, as long as they come donning nautical-themed attire. "We welcome entries in the categories of Merfolk, Pirate, Real Sea Creature, and Fantasy Sea Creature in youth and adult divisions," Barbour shared. Paradegoers will escort the Mermaid Queen as they march down Main Street to the Greenport Harbor.

And make sure to go all out when coming up with a costume because the most impressive outfits will be rewarded with a special treasure. "We'll be having an awards ceremony in Mitchell Park immediately following the parade," she noted. "Guest judges include Suffolk County Legislator Al Krupski, and prizes include mermaid tails generously provided by Hampton Mermaid Company, one of our event sponsors!"

"In order to participate though, you must register in advance," she explained. Pre-registration - which is free - is available at www.eventbrite.com.

"If you'd like to support the Merry Merfolk Parade, and the important marine habitat restoration projects proceeds support, please consider coming in as a sponsor-we have levels available from $100-$1,000 and all donations are tax-deductible," Barbour added.

Funds raised during the Parade will support CCE's Back to the Bays Initiative.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
