On Saturday, February 28th, the Peconic Community School
is hosting "Discover: Education for a Better World," a unique, all day fundraiser from 12 to 10:30 p.m., featuring hands-on activities, lectures, and to cap it all off, an after-party.
"From free workshops and demos, to speakers and live music, learn about and celebrate educational possibilities on the East End at Peconic Community School and Greenport Harbor Brewing Company

The festivities begin at the Peconic Community School (269 Main Road, Aquebogue) with free interactive workshops, art activities and demos hosted by East End not-for-profits during the school's open house. From 12 to 3 p.m., students can take part in art projects and demonstrations, while their parents are informed about East End not-for-profits and the Peconic Community School. The family friendly event will feature several local favorites including Hallockville Museum Farm
, Tom Barry of Green Revolution Woodworking, Cornell Cooperative Extenstion/Peconic Estuary Program, Children's Museum of the East End
, Ellen Nora's Art Studio for Kids, East End Arts
, and Hippy Hive HoneyBee Cooperative. One lucky guest will even take home a special door prize.

From 3 to 5 p.m., attendees will explore the topic of revolutionizing learning during lectures by education experts including Ameer Mourad, a learning designer from the Institute of Play, and Mimosa Jones Tunney, a television and film writer. Admission to the presentations at Peconic Community School is $30 per ticket.
The benefit will culminate with "The Party" from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Greenport Harbor Brewing
Company's new tasting room in Peconic (42155 Main Road, Peconic). Enjoy rhythm and twang from the East End's own Gene Casey and the Lone Sharks
as you mingle with other partygoers. Admission to the bash is $35, which includes a complimentary ale or lager and light finger food.
A ticket to both the lectures and party is $50.
