North Fork Foodie Tour To Feature Over 18 Locations And Several Demonstrations

Take a behind the scenes look at local farms and artisans and meet the people that make up the North Fork foodie scene during the 9th Annual North Fork Foodie Tour, presented by the North Fork Reform Synagogue, on Sunday, September 20th.

From l0 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees will partake in a self-guided exploration of the best that the North Fork has to offer, as they learn about each participant's methods of sustainable agriculture. This year's Food Tour includes more than 18 locations plus lectures at Charnews Farm.

The East End expedition will include stops at Charnews Farm (3005 Youngs Avenue, Southold), The Farm (5994 Route 25, Southold), North Fork Roasting Co. (55795 Main Road, Southold), Southold School Garden (420 Oaklawn Avenue, Southold), Surrey Lane Vineyards (46050 Main Road, Southold), Catapano Dairy Farm (33705 Route 48, Peconic), Greenport Harbor Brewery (42155 Main Road, Peconic), Krupski's Vegetable & Pumpkin Farm (38030 Route 25, Peconic), Sang Lee Farms (25180 Route 48, Peconic), Satur Farms (27343 Route 48, Peconic), 8 Hands Farm (4735 Cox Lane, Cutchogue), East End Mushroom Company (22344 Route 48, Suite 23, Cutchogue), Koppert Cress (23423 Route 48, Cutchogue), Browder's Birds (4050 Soundview Avenue, Mattituck), Macari Wines (150 Bergen Avenue, Mattituck), Mar-Gene Farms (2230 Soundview Avenue, Mattituck), Shinn Estate Vineyards (2000 Oregon Road, Mattituck), Goodale Farms (250 Main Road, Riverhead), Ty Llwyd Farm (5793 Sound Avenue, Riverhead), and Lavender by the Bay (7540 Main Road, East Marion).

Talks and demonstrations will feature Chef John Ross, Suffolk Times columnist and author of The Food & Wine of the North Fork, who will cook up a dish for attendees to taste; Chef Deborah Pittorino of Cuvee Seafood & Grille, who will demonstrate cooking with herbs grown from a pot on your windowsill or deck; Peter Clark of Clarke's Garden in Greenport, who will discuss growing herbs and their uses; James Beard Award-winning Chef Peter Berley, who will talk about the secrets of sourdough and its benefits for taste and health; and Dan Heston of Peconic Land Trust, who will speak about nurturing new young farms to preserve agriculture.

Admission is $25 and free for children under 12-years-old.
