Riverhead - There is no shortage of wine tour companies making the rounds each weekend in the fall offering transportation, clinking glasses, and lovely vistas at every turn. However, if you take the typical tour you'll share the limited space at the tasting room with the 60 or so folks you came with and at least a hundred others all vying for the attention of a few pourers. That's no way to enjoy the North Fork's local harvest especially if you want to actually sip something. Instead travel luxuriously with Hotel Indigo and be treated like a true VIP.

New to the East End this year, Hotel Indigo offers lavish accommodations and a fine dining experience right in Riverhead, the gateway to the Hamptons and North Fork. To celebrate the fall harvest Hotel Indigo is offering a vineyard tour package that combines wine and spirits produced on the North Fork while traveling round trip on the Hamptons Luxury Liner.
With only 44 passengers on the tour and tastings in private rooms there's no hassle, and more importantly, no waiting to sample wines from award-winning vineyards
Castello di Borghese, Peconic Bay Winery,
Bedell Cellars, and Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, vodka from LiV Vodka Distillery, and champagne at Sparkling Pointe. The packed day ends with an After-Party at Hotel Indigo's Bistro 72 with a sumptuous "farm to table" menu created by Food Network chef
Lia Fallon. Guests can extend their stay with a wine pairing dinner with the day's featured vineyard or stay the weekend at the hotel (special packages available). Now that's touring in chic style.
"There's no better time of the year than now to visit the East End and North Fork regions," stated co-owner and General Manager
Rob Salvatico. In creating this tour no detail was left forgotten and special accommodations are available for guests who decide spontaneously to stay the night at the hotel instead of returning home at the end of the day."
For those heading out from NYC the first stop is centrally located at 40th and Lexington with a brief pick-up in Nassau County. Before noon guests arrive at Hotel Indigo and by noon arrive at the tour's featured vineyard. With so many vineyards on the tour each take a turn being the day's featured vineyard and in turn the featured wine during the paired dinner. Boxed lunches prepared by Bistro 72 are available during the day for a nominal fee.
If you miss this season's tours don't dismay, you can book a tour during Jazz on the Vine in February and again in the spring and summer. "The best thing about the package," adds Salvatico, "is it is a truly fun, interesting, novel way to celebrate New York State and all things NY."
