Take after take Paolo Costanzo and Brooke D'Orsay hit their marks and enjoyed cone after cone of ice-cream. |
Mattituck - Love Lane, known all over as a delightfully picturesque shopping spot on the North Fork was decked out with spring flowers in the middle of October as USA Network's smash hit "
Royal Pains" took over for a day of filming with actors
Mark Feuerstein,
Paolo Costanzo, and
Reshma Shetty.
Director and Executive Producer
Michael Rauch and his production team worked with local officials and business owners to transform Love Lane, Mattituck into Main Street, Southampton. The crew was on vigilant leaf duty with blowers at the ready and brought in faux flowers that inspired shop owners, including
Rose Batheller from The Village Cheese Shop and
Sandra Lazar of Haircutters Barber Shop, to "take a picture so we can do this next year." The Love Lane Kitchen and The Village Cheese Shop served as the host location for two scenes that will appear in an episode scheduled to air in January 2011.
When asked why they were shooting on the North Fork instead of the real thing Rauch replied that it was a little closer and "just so beautiful." He went on to say that he loves the area and was "thrilled to film here."
Costanzo hit the set early in the day and headed straight for the Love Lane Deli where photos of celebrities are hung. He joked with the owners and staff as he posed for photos so that he too would grace the walls. He spent the rest of the shoot eating an ice-cream cone as he worked with actress
Brooke D'Orsay, who plays love interest Paige Collins - and who was tucked into a large white down jacket between takes - in a scene where she makes some revelations about her character's habits.

"Royal Pains" Star Mark Feuerstein and Director Michael Rauch. |
Feuerstein was his usual gregarious self showing up on the set mid-afternoon in a down jacket shaking hands and posing for photos with locals who were watching the movie-magic on their way running errands at the deli and post office. At one point he and Costano strolled into The Village Cheese Shop for a chat with Feuerstein exiting with a bag of goodies the actor noshed on as he observed the filming.
"Royal Pains" shoots all over Long Island with many locations serving as the "Hamptons" including Oheka Castle in Huntington (the backdrop for actor
Campbell Scott's mysterious character Boris), Pelligrini Vineyard (the location for a show starring
Henry Winkler), and now Love Lane. One of the only places in the Hamptons used on the show, beyond establishing shots and aerials, is the mansion used for
Christine Ebersole's character Ms. Newberg.
To see more of this hysterical show check your local listings, otherwise keep your eyes peeled on the East End as you never know where they'll turn up next in the "Hamptons."

I love your show...enjoy the Magiverism of the show but often get upset about the medical inaccuracies....an intubated patient first of all would be sedated and could not pull out her own ETT tube with an inflated cuff without causing moderate airway damage and blood following pulling out the tube...i would love the opportunity to give feedback on the medical accuracy.
