Selden - Suffolk County Community College will be celebrating the inauguration of
Dr. Shaun L. McKay as the sixth president of the College on Tuesday, September 21. A number of events have been planned to mark this occasion and to celebrate the College's programs, students and faculty.
On Sunday, September 19, an Inaugural Reception will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sheraton Smithtown Hotel. Performance showcases during the event will feature the talents of SCCC students, faculty and alumni.
On Monday, September 20, an Inaugural Education Symposium entitled, "Transforming Boundaries Through Teaching and Learning" will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Shea Theatre on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Visiting educators and members of SCCC's distinguished faculty are invited to attend.
Also on Monday, September 20, a Wine-Pairing Dinner will be held at the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center at 20 East Main Street in Riverhead from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This three-course dinner will be prepared by the College's culinary students and will feature the wines from Martha Clara Vineyards.
The events will culminate with the Inauguration Investiture Ceremony commencing at 10:30 a.m. in the Field House located in the Health Sports and Education Center on the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood on Tuesday, September 21.
Dr. Shaun L. McKay commented, "I am honored to serve as the sixth President of Suffolk County Community College. These inaugural events celebrate the myriad of ways that our programs and people are helping to transform lives and empower individuals throughout our region."
The College is actively seeking sponsorship donations. Any proceeds from the calendar of inaugural events will be dedicated to the College's Foundation for support of student scholarships.
