East Hampton - The East Hampton Republican slate received the official endorsement of New York State Senator Ken LaValle (R-1) on Thursday, October 1.

"This is probably the most qualified slate of candidates, in any town, that has run," said LaValle in support of the entire list of GOP nominees, "I have no hesitation in endorsing this slate - from top to bottom." LaValle also took the time to single out Town Engineer Tom Talmage's qualifications as a candidate for Superintendent of Highways, noting that Talmage is a certified professional engineer. "I can't remember anyone ever running [for Superintendent of Highways] with a professional engineering background," LaValle recalled.

Referring to the town's financial problems, LaValle stated: "East Hampton Town has fallen on very hard times," citing mismanagement as the cause, however "the Wilkinson Team has an approach that puts policy and the people of the town over politics."

Republican nominee for Town Supervisor Bill Wilkinson thanked Senator LaValle for the endorsement and for his work in the State Legislature. "He's been a leader on many of the same things that are priorities on our agenda," Wilkinson stated, specifically citing the senator's work with healthcare and property tax reform.

For Real Change from Amagansett says:
Thank goodness! I was beginning to think this election was going to be "more of the same", "more of the same" with no hope for a real change in East Hampton! I have always admired our Senator's common-sense "people first", "less taxes", "no MTA tax", "return the STAR rebate", and "no salt water fishing license fee" policies. Ken Lavalle, an educator at heart, knows that the heart of this town will best be served by these candidates who are willing, competant, and able to serve my community. Thank goodness there really is a reason to vote this year!!
