Ethics Board Finds No Violations By Throne-Holst And Fleming

Southampton - The ethics complaint filed on October 25, 2001 by William Wright on behalf of the Southampton Republican Committee requesting an investigation of Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst and Councilwoman Bridget Fleming and employee Jennifer Garvey was denied by the Ethics Board in a letter issued Friday, November 4.

The complaint alleged violations of the ethics code based on aspects of the video, "The Southampton Project," and the depiction of "Town facilities" within the video.

In the letter, authored by Ethics Board Chair Michele J. LeMoal-Gray the Ethics Board concluded that "…your Complaint and Request for Investigation dated October 25, 2011 does not allege facts which, if proved, would constitute a violation of the Ethic Code."

In response to the findings of the Board of Ethics Throne-Holst stated, "I want to thank the Ethics Board for their swift attention to this matter and where they have now confirmed what we certainly always knew, that the opposition has a problem with our message that partisan politics have no place in local government - not how or where it is said."

"I've been through it all dealing with the opposition in this town - from circulating anonymous letters about me and calling names to issuing baseless complaints, they are incapable of sticking to the issues at hand," she said.

"I am extremely proud of my teammates Bridget Fleming and Brad Bender because I feel they have demonstrated in-depth understanding of the real issues confronting the Town and a commitment to problem solving that far exceeds the skills, energy or initiative of the opposition," she said. "Together we can offer fair, honest and innovate representation that will keep our local government moving forward, not backward."

Fleming stated, 'I am gratified that the Ethics Board immediately recognized that the complaint was completely baseless. I remain focused and committed to the important issues affecting our community."

Copies of the letter of from the Board of Ethics have been forwarded to members of the Town Board, the Town Attorney, and filed with the office of the Town Clerk.
