Aggravated Unlicensed Operations
Homero Jimenez, 34, of East Hampton, was pulled over on Wednesday, June 10 at 6:02 a.m. for driving on the shoulder of the road and speeding on Montauk Highway. A DMV check showed that Jimenez's license was suspended in May for failure to answer a summons out of Queens County. Jimenez was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, speeding in zone and driving on the shoulder.
Igor Kotlyar, 37, of Brooklyn, was stopped on Saturday, June 13 at 5:07 p.m. by police responding to reports of an erratic driver on Pantigo Road. Upon being pulled over, a DMV check showed that Kotlyar had not been issued a New York State driver's license and was convicted of driving without a license in February. Kotlyar's record also showed two suspensions and three revocations dating back to 1994. Kotlyar was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second and third degrees and as an unlicensed operator.
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance
Ronald Merrill, 46, of East Hampton, was arrested on Tuesday, June 9 at 2:51 p.m. after police responded to a report of a suspicious male in the area of 76 Newtown Lane. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found Merrill in the Reutershan parking lot, where he appeared to be under the influence. Responding to a tip, police searched the parking lot bathroom, finding a blue rain coat, seven syringes, ten patches of Fentanyl and a silver spoon with residue, all of which Merrill admitted were his. Merrill was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and appearing in public under the influence.
Jessica Nevins, 26, and Jonathan Loftus, 26, both of Ridge, and Joseph Foresto, 52, of Lake Grove, were arrested on Thursday, June 11 at 5:56 p.m. after police questioned them while parked in a handicap parking space behind Chase Bank. Loftus, who was driving, stated that they were parked so that Nevins, his girlfriend, could make a deposit at the bank, which she was allowed to do while the officers questioned Loftus and Foresto, the registered owner of the vehicle. Foresto consented to a search of the vehicle, which turned up several glass drug pipes, a make-up container with several crack cocaine pieces inside, a plastic case with more drug pipes and a metal container filled with Methadone pills. As Nevins returned from the bank, officers found a bank envelope with her name on it that contained another glass pipe, a packet of heroin and a packet containing several crack cocaine pieces. All three were charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree, Nevins was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, Loftus is charged with three counts and Foresto is charged with two.
Driving Troubles
John Stone, Jr., 48, of New York City, was pulled over on Sunday, June 14 at 1:22 a.m. after an officer observed him swerving over the double-yellow line and the onto the shoulder of the road twice while also following the vehicle in front of him too closely. Upon conducting a traffic stop, the officer noted a strong smell of alcohol on Stone's breath and he failed several roadside sobriety tests. Stone was charged with driving while intoxicated, his first offense, driving on the shoulder of the road, crossing over hazardous markings and following too closely.
