Wainscott - The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) just completed its third Puppy Mill Rescue of 2011. Since 2009, ARF has participated in Best Friends Animal Society's "Pup My Ride" program which has rescued over 1,500 Midwest puppy mill dogs. This year, the revamped program features more frequently transports, allowing more dogs to be saved from euthanasia. ARF's Operations Director
Michele Forrester traveled to Akron, OH in the ARF van to pick up the rescued dogs for the last leg of their journey back east. These dogs will now live a better life. Most of them have never been out of a cage, been taken for a walk on a leash. ARF volunteers are gathering at the Adoption Center to help walk and socialize these dogs to prepare them for their new start in life. Breeds include Pomeranians, Miniature Poodles, Chihuahuas and Pekingese. All the dogs are in quarantine and will need to be medically cleared by
Dr. Sarah Alward before being put up for adoption.
To find out when these dogs are available for adoption please check ARF's "View Our Pets" page.
