Southampton - The East End Women's Network (EEWN) will be recognizing Stacy Quarty, President of Lucia's Angels, as their 2011 Woman of the Year during a dinner celebration on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 230 Elm in Southampton.

Since 1982 the Network has been honoring special women who have contributed greatly to the welfare and empowerment of women from the East End of Long Island. The first Woman of the Year was Jeanne T. Block who began the East End Women's Network, and other Women of the Year include: Joan Marshall (1992); Andrea H. Lohneiss (2004); and Dr. Karen Malcomson (2006).

Stacy was chosen for this honor due to her compassion and courage in the fight against cancer. She has helped to create an outstanding support system for women and their families on Long Island. East End Women's Network is proud to honor the woman who is dedicated to her fellow cancer fighters until the end. Her actions through Lucia's Angels are nothing short of heroic.

The organization has also pledged $50,000 to create "Lucia's Room," a private inpatient room at Southampton Hospital that will be a comforting and caring environment for patients who are going through difficult surgeries, palliative care and/or end‐;of‐;life services. Hospital President and CEO Robert Chaloner comments, "We are pleased to be able to add palliative care to Southampton Hospital's patient services, and fortunate to have the very generous support of Lucia's Angels in this new venture."

Lucia's Angels was founded in memory of Lucia Terzi Bagan, who recently lost her battle with cancer. It was her wish that all cancer patients have the loving support that her friends provided her in a time of great need. After her passing, her friends banded together to fulfill her wish and Lucia's Angels was born. The organization provides funding for such necessities as babysitting, groceries, salon services, and heating bills, as well as fulfilling special wishes and being there to hold the hand of anyone who needs it.

The night starts with networking at 5:30 p.m., and a dinner buffet at 6 p.m. The pricing for the dinner event is $55 for EEWN members, $65 for non‐;members. For more information and to make reservations contact Christine Laureano 631-484-6335 and email to clcoach@optonline.net.
