Southampton - Town Clerk Sundy Schermeyer and Highway Superintendent
Alex Gregor have collaborated to restructure the Highway bidding procedure to provide easier access to the public and to improve the efficiency of the process. Beginning February 2010, all bids initiated by the Highway Superintendent will be available and publicly opened in the Town Clerk's Office, 116 Hampton Road, Southampton rather than the Highway Superintendent's Office in Hampton Bays.
The Town Clerk's Office currently advertises, distributes and publicly opens the majority of the Town's bids. The Highway Superintendent has determined that it would be beneficial to utilize the services that are already established in the Town Clerk's Office for this function to allow for a more effective, efficient bid process. This initiative will provide consistency Town wide for bidding procedures and allow for greater transparency by incorporating the bids into the resolution system which can be accessed online on the Town Clerk's Citizen Portal.
The process going forward will require an adopted Town Board resolution authorizing the Town Clerk to advertise the Notice to Bidders as well as a resolution of Award. Legal Notices will be published on Thursdays in the Town's official newspaper, the
Southampton Press and posted on the Town's Official signboard in Town Hall as well as on the Town Clerk's Citizen Portal accessible at
www.southamptontownny.gov .
