Thiele Announces DOT Maintenance Of East End Bikeways

Work Will Extend Until 2014

Sag Harbor - New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF- Sag Harbor) has been informed by the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) that maintenance of existing bikeways and park and rides will begin this fall and extend until 2014. The following locations will be improved on
the East End:

Bike Routes/Lanes

 • NY 24: I-495 to Old Riverhead Road
 • NY 27A: Knoll Road to Tuckahoe Lane
 • NY 114: NY 27 to South Ferry thru Shelter Island
 • NY 27: CR 39 to Montauk Point

Bike Lockers

 • Bridgehampton LIRR Station
 • Park and Rides/Rest Areas
 • NY 27: west and eastbound, east of Wainscott Road
 • NY 27: west and eastbound, west of Shinnecock Canal
 • NY 24: west and eastbound, Flanders area

Thiele stated, "As a member of the Assembly Transportation Committee, I am pleased that this long needed work which promotes alternative transportation such as bicycles will soon be undertaken. It will not only promote bicycle use but will also beautify these important highway corridors in our communities."
