Sag Harbor - Assemblyman
Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor), Long Island Blood Services, and Southampton Town will be holding a blood drive on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the David W. Crohan/ Flanders Community Center, 655 Flanders Road (Route 24) in Flanders.
"With the holiday season coming to a close, I hope every eligible donor will consider giving one more gift - the gift of life," said Thiele. "I hope everyone who can donate will call for an appointment and I look forward to seeing you at the blood drive in January."
According To Long Island Blood Services
• Blood donors must be between the ages of 17 to 76, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and not have donated blood within the last 56 days. In New York State you can donate blood at age 16 with written parental consent. People age 76 and over can donate blood if they present a physician's letter.
• One-third of us will have used blood or a blood product by the time we reach age 72.
• Every day more than 2,000 pints of blood are needed to serve nearly 200 hospitals in the NY/NJ area.
All donors will receive two tickets to a New York Mets game, courtesy of the Long Island Blood Services. To schedule an appointment, contact Assemblyman Thiele's District Office at 631-537-2583.
