Southampton - Southampton Town Supervisor
Anna Throne-Holst rode with members of the military and the community in Saturday's Wounded Warrior Project, which is dedicated to serving the needs of America's wounded veterans.
"Soldiers are the true heroes of this country and we cannot thank them enough for the sacrifices they make in order to protect our freedoms," said Throne-Holst. "The turnout for this event was really wonderful. I am proud to have participated in the soldier ride and to be a part of community that shows such care and respect for our dedicated service men and women," she said.
During the ceremony at the wharf in Sag Harbor, the riders, led by the parents of Lance Corporal Jordan Haerter - a United States Marine and Sag Harbor native who was killed in
Iraq in April 2008 - paid tribute to our fallen and wounded veterans. In reminding the riders of the purpose of Saturday's event, Jordan's parents asked the riders to reflect on their son's memory - and the memory of all those who have died serving our country - as they crossed over the bridge which is dedicated in Jordan's honor.
