Riverhead - Just in time for Halloween, renowned carver George Adams will share his passion for pumpkins in a hands-on workshop on Saturday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, teaching carvers of all ages how to make their jack-o-lanterns extraordinary at the East End Arts Council (EEAC). Adams, a graduate of Long Island University with a B.A. in Art, started carving pumpkins as a child and has taught the art of jack-o-lantern carving at such prestigious locations as the Museum of Natural History Hall of Science, as well as at FAO Schwartz in New York City.

Starting with a short talk on the history and origin of pumpkin carving, George will show examples and demonstrate modern carving techniques before participants put into practice what they've learned on their own pumpkin. Bring a pumpkin, metal soup spoon, pumpkin knife (available where Halloween supplies are sold) and, for adults only, an exacto knife. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $24 member EEAC/$30 non-member.

East End Arts Council, established in 1972, is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization recognized by the IRS and the NYS Bureau of Charities. Proceeds of all events, sales, classes, donations and memberships benefit their mission of bringing the arts to everyone and inspiring communities through service, advocacy and education.
