East Hampton - The BG Open fundraiser will benefit Dancing Dreams. Dancing Dreams is a 501(c)(3) non-profit program which provides dance classes and performance opportunities to physically and medically challenged children. Dancing Dreams currently enrolls over 45 dancers ages three to 17 from Long Island and the New York Metropolitan area.
The BG Open was first held in the summer of 2007 to honor the memory of
Beverly Goldstein. Beverly, an avid tennis player and retired elementary school teacher succumbed to a malignant brain tumor in February 2007. Beverly's sister Roz and a group of tennis friends decided to organize a charity event in East Hampton to remember Beverly and at the same time raise money for a local child focused charity.
The BG Open will be held on Thursday, August 5 at
East Hampton Indoor Tennis, 175 Daniel's Hole Road, East Hampton. Tennis events including a round robin tournament for all levels begins at 3:30 p.m., followed by a cocktail party from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $150 for tennis and cocktails and $50 for cocktails only; 100 percent of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Dancing Dreams.
