Riverhead - Supervisor Phil Cardinale has announced that the Long Island Business Development Council (LIBDC) has bestowed its Municipality Economic Development Award on the Town of Riverhead for its efforts in the development of the EPCAL property. The award was made at the 40th Anniversary Dinner of the LIBDC on October 1.
The LIBDC has aided Long Island businesses in their expansions, has attracted new business to the region and has helped create new jobs. Founded in 1969, it includes government officials from Long Island and New York State as well as representatives from across the business community.
"This award highlights the efforts that Riverhead has made to move the development process forward at EPCAL and recognizes that the Town has been faithful to the goal of the site becoming a regional economic engine," stated Cardinale. "When questions have been raised about Riverhead Town's openness to business, we have always emphasized our economic development goals for EPCAL, Downtown Main Street and Route 58 as evidence of our welcoming attitude towards business. The Long Island Business Development Council, composed of members from banks, development firms, law firms and other professions has clearly recognized this with its award today," Cardinale noted.
"I extend my appreciation and that of the entire Town Board to the Long Island Business Development Council for this award and for recognizing the Town's contribution to Long Island's regional economic growth," concluded Cardinale.
Guest (James) from East Hampton says:
This is completely typical of Riverhead... They sacrificed Main St. for Tanger. Riverhead is a disaster, and any box store that wants to come in, Big Phil will bend over for.
