Republicans Sweep East Hampton Board Race; Zwirn Concedes


As early returns came in on election night, the one clear winner was East Hampton Republican Bill Wilkinson. With nearly 70 percent of the votes counted, Wilkinson had a commanding 68.6 percent of the vote, compared with Democrat Ben Zwirn's 31.4 percent.

Throne-Holst Southampton Supervisor-Elect; Nuzzi, Malone Take Town Board


Southampton has elected a new supervisor, as incumbent Linda Kabot conceded to challenger Anna Throne-Holst shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday night. With over 90 percent of the vote counted Throne-Holst held the lead with nearly 60 percent. 1 comment

East Hampton Board Submits Prelim Budget; Balks On Layoffs


After a particularly contentious, and at times even mean-spirited debate, the East Hampton Town Board has submitted the preliminary 2010 budget for public hearing, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 5. The budget balances $72 million in appropriations with $15.5 million in revenues and $56.6 million in taxes, resulting in a 10.908 percent property tax increase for residents outside the village and a 10.586 percent increase for residents inside the village. 4 comments
