Westhampton Beach - The International Bricklin Owners Club has announced it will conduct its 2009 annual Grand National Meet on the East End of Long Island in the Hamptons from Wednesday, July 22 to Sunday, July 26. The Bricklin is a gull-wing sports car manufactured in Canada for exclusive sale in the United States, with production beginning in mid-1974 and continuing through late-1975. Three model years resulted - 1974, 1975 and 1976.

This five-day meet is highlighted by an a full day of judging and competition to take place on the Great Lawn in the village of Westhampton Beach on Saturday July 25. This special day is open to the public free of charge, and between 40 to 70 of these rare Bricklin automobiles are expected to be on display. Other Bricklin events will be taking place as these rare cars tour through the East End.

Wednesday, July 22 will feature a scenic run of all the cars to the North Fork. Thursday, July 23 will feature a run through Westhampton Beach onto Dune Road, culminating with lunch at a restaurant at the Shinnecock Canal. Friday July 24 will highlight a "Poker Run" for the Bricklin owners (40 to 70 participants) that willl begin at the Chamber of Commerce office in Riverhead before 9 a.m., when each driver gets to pull a card from a deck and must answer a few questions about local history or lore. They will then proceed to each of these chamber of commerce offices or locations, where they will do the same thing - Westhampton Beach, East Quogue, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Sag Harbor, East Hampton and Montauk. They expect to stop for lunch at Gosman's Dock in Montauk and then drive back to the west.
