Wellness Shabbat At The Hampton Synagogue

Westhampton Beach - On Saturday, July 11 to Sunday, July 12, the Hampton Synagogue will host a Wellness Shabbat, chaired by Michael Stern of The Stern Group.

Saturday, July 11
1 p.m.: Seminar with Paul Zane Pilzer and Dr. Eric Braverman - "The Wellness Revolution, Well-being, Anti-Aging"

Paul Zane Pilzer is a world-renowned economist, a multimillionaire software entrepreneur, an adjunct professor, and the author of eight best-selling books and dozens of scholarly publications. His most recent book, "The Next Millionaires," explains in detail why the 21st century will be known as the age of the entrepreneur, and how you can stake your claim to being one of the next 10 million millionaires.

Eric R. Braverman, M.D. was recently appointed the Clark Randt Memorial Lecturer and has accepted an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Integrative Medicine in Neurological Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is the author or more than 120 papers and has been practicing medicine for more than 22 years. Dr. Braverman is the author of the best-selling books "Younger You" (McGraw Hill) and "The Edge Effect," (Sterling) and is one of the foremost experts in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Braverman was featured on NBC's "The Today Show" in September 2007, was a special expert guest of Tyra Banks' show in October 2007, and appeared on CBN's "700 Club" in October 2007 where he was interviewed by Pat Robertson. Look for upcoming publications featuring articles by and interviews with Dr. Braverman, including O Magazine, Allure, Elle, and Town & Country Weddings.

Representatives of Xocai Chocolate will be on hand at the theater, offering tastings and information on Xocai Cold-Pressed Chocolate Superfood.

Sunday, July 12
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Swami Robin Cofer - Breathing and Wellness Unity Beginners Yoga Class

Swami Cofer was featured as a yoga expert and interviewed extensively by Oz Garcia, one of the world's leading authorities on progressive nutrition and anti-aging, for his latest book, "Redesigning 50: The No-Plastic-Surgery Guide To 21st Century Age Defiance."

Presentation, discussion and personal sittings with Dr. Marvell Scott


Marvell Scott, MD joined the Channel 7 Sports Department in 2001. He came to the station from WDTN-TV Dayton, OH and currently anchors sports on the weekends. He draws from extensive first-hand experience as a competitive athlete and frequently "attempts" to incorporate his abilities into feature stories. He's matched his skills against the pros in sports venues ranging from basketball to lacrosse, and at the extreme, has suited up for two full weeks as an Arena Football player for the New York Dragons. As a Manhattan dweller, Marvell has also been at the center of the news after serving as an eyewitness following a plane crash involving Yankees Pitcher Corey Lidle in October 2006.

After competing in the Big Ten Conference at the University of Illinois as a running back, Marvell played two seasons as a professional indoor football player in addition to playing semi-pro baseball as a pitcher. He also won a state championship in bodybuilding as a teen.

Marvell is also a New York State licensed, nationally board certified medical doctor whose emphasis is preventative care and sports medicine. He is also a nationally accredited exercise and performance expert who designs specialized fitness and wellness programs.

Other Events
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), junior senator of New York, will address the Hampton Synagogue on Saturday, July 11, during Shabbat Morning Services. For the senator, the speech will be her first to a synagogue since her appointment to the Senate in January.

Services at the Hampton Synagogue will begin at 8:45 a.m., conducted by Rabbi Marc Schneier and Cantor Netanel Hershtik, accompanied by The New York Synagogue Choir and Conductor Izchak Haimov. Sen. Gillibrand will speak at 11 a.m., and the service will be followed by a Kiddush reception.
