Southampton Classic Car & Bike Show At Southampton Elks Lodge

Benefit for The Andrew Reister Fund

Southampton - Anthony Green of Westhampton is a man who cares about his community, and wanted to organize a charitable event, so if you own or operate a car or motorcycle that you want to be seen in and have seen, then show up at the grounds of the Southampton Elks Lodge on Saturday, June 13, for the Southampton Classic Car and Bike Show, and enter your ride for a good cause to benefit The Andrew Reister Fund (proceeds to benefit the Reister Family).

Green is a friend of Reister's brother, Jimmy, and the two decided to hold an automotive and motorcycle exhibition on the grounds of the Southampton Elks Lodge and invited "everyone" according to Green. Green gathered sponsors, among them Gliptone Waxes (originally based in Riverhead); as well as other local sponsors - put the word out to local automotive and motorcycle clubs - and opened the event to "all makes and models, years, and gears."

According to Green "I had a cancer scare a few years ago, and since then I have wanted to raise money for a worthy cause. I did feel, however, that raising funds for such a large organization didn't give me the same satisfaction of trying to raise funds for a more local cause. I met Jim Reister and am still shocked as to what happened to his brother, so I felt that my idea [for an auto show] and any funds raised would be better used for a community or local purpose."

For a $25 entry fee per car, and $15 per motorcycle, this will be a judged show, including seven classes. Green plans to issue trophies for those who are interested in having their ride judged. Right now he plans on issuing a total of 25 trophies for single entry vehicles, and trophies for specialty vehicles and best car club; as well as three trophies for the motorcycles.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 13, with a rain date of Sunday, June 14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information contact 631-687-0299. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children under 12. There will be a band, food, hats and tee-shirts, as well car supplies available for purchase.

The Southampton Elks Lodge is located at 605 County Road 39 in Southampton.
