East Hampton - On Saturday, Aug. 8, the East Hampton Library (159 Main Street, East Hampton) will present its Fifth Annual Authors Night benefit event.
The evening's honorary co-chairs,
Alec Baldwin ("A Promise to Ourselves"),
Candace Bushnell ("One Fifth Avenue," "Sex and the City"), and
Jay McInerney ("How It Ended," "Bright Lights, Big City"), and Authors Committee Chair
Barbara Goldsmith (best-selling author of five award-winning books, philanthropist and historian) will be joined by more than 100 distinguished authors, including Pulitzer Prize winners
Robert A. Caro and
Philip Schultz, and legendary journalist
Barbara Walters.
Other featured best-selling authors include renowned food writer
Florence Fabricant, Hayden Planetarium Director and Astrophysicist
Neil deGrasse Tyson,

The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with the Authors Reception under the tent on the Library grounds, where guests will enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres and wine, and as well as enjoy the opportunity to meet and mingle with the authors, buy their books and have them personally inscribed. A silent auction will feature dozens of wonderful donated prizes.
At 8 p.m., immediately following the Authors Reception, guests will be hosted at a specially themed dinner in honor of one of the guest authors, at private homes.
Ticket prices are $75 for the Authors Reception only, and begin at $200 for the reception and private dinner.
Proceeds from this special event will benefit the East Hampton Library, a private, not for-profit organization providing outstanding free library services to the East Hampton community.
