Southampton - On Nov. 5, Stony Brook Southampton presents poets and teachers Sharon Dolin and Scott Hightower who will read from their work and discuss the writing life.
The event is part of Southampton's MFA in Writing and Literature program and its "Writers Speak" series of literary events, and will take place on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Duke Lecture Hall. Free and open to the public, and for further information, call 631-632-5030.
Dolin holds a Ph.D. from Cornell. Author of four books of poems - "Burn and Dodge," "Realm of the Possible," "Serious Pink," and "Heart Work" - her work has appeared or is forthcoming in
American Letters & Commentary, Barrow Street, The Kenyon Review, Crowd, Pequod, Poetry, Pool, The Iowa Review, Denver Quarterly, and The Threepenny Review. She teaches workshops at the 92nd Street Y's Unterberg Poetry Center.

Hightower is the author of three books of poetry. His third, "Part of the Bargain," received the 2004 Hayden Carruth Award. His translations from Spanish merited a Willis Barnstone Translation Prize. He has taught at Fordham, F.I.T., and Drew. Hightower is a contributing editor to
The Journal, a reviewer for
Coldfront Magazine, and an adjunct professor at NYU.
