East Hampton - Jodie and John Eastman recently hosted a private cocktail reception benefiting The New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) at their home in East Hampton. In addition to cocktails and a beautiful summer evening, guests received an update on the latest developments in stem cell research from Kevin C. Eggan, Ph.D., NYSCF's chief scientific officer, and Susan L. Solomon, NYSCF's founder and CEO.
Founded in 2005, NYSCF is a privately funded foundation dedicated to furthering stem cell research to advance the search for cures of the major diseases of our time. In March 2006, it opened New York City's first privately-funded stem cell laboratory. In addition to its role in public education, NYSCF conducts groundbreaking scientific research; supports researchers and scientists through grants, fellowships and symposia; and runs collaborative, state-of-the-art research facilities supported entirely by private funds and directly focused on curing disease.
