Hamptons Online To Redirect Focus On Media Company; Will Aid Telephone Clients In Transfer To Other Carriers

Southampton - Convergent Holdings, L.L.C., parent company of Hamptons Telephone, L.L.C. and Hamptons Online, L.L.C., has announced it is redirecting its focus and resources to develop its media company which provides daily regional news and lifestyle coverage online at Hamptons.com. In order to keep pace with the rapidly growing media outlet and its publications, Hamptons Online President Robert Florio has announced the company's management has decided to exit its participation in the telephone and internet access business.

"We have decided to refocus our energy and resources to benefit our media outlets which are rapidly growing," Florio commented Friday.

"Over the years Hamptons Telephone has received high marks in providing customer service to our clientele and it is our role to make the transition for those customers to new carriers as smooth and seamless as is possible."

According to Florio, an official letter outlining options for its telephone clientele to secure continued phone service is being sent out this week.

Hamptons Telephone was established in 2000 with an eye to offering better service to the Eastern End of Long Island as a competitive local exchange carrier. During its lifespan, Hamptons Telephone offered bundled services combining voice and data, affording its clientele price savings and excellent customer service. Hamptons Telephone was commended by the NY Public Service Commission for providing outstanding service for each of the past three years.

Keeping pace with industry changes and anticipating future opportunities for growth, the parent company has concluded that providing topnotch internet publications is the right direction to focus its resources.

"Over the past nine years the telephone business has changed," Florio explained, "ushering in new federal regulations that have made it less advantageous for smaller operators to participate. During that same period of time the internet has exploded and we are on the cutting edge of providing relevant information to our region. We regard our years of experience in the telephone and internet access business as an essential step in our progression in the fast-paced world of technology."

Hamptons.com, a Hamptons Online publication, serves the South Fork of Long Island with breaking news, sports and lifestyle coverage from Westhampton to Montauk. "Industry indicators tracking online media markets continue to validate the expansion of internet-based publications and Hamptons.com is keeping pace with those trends," Florio added. "In addition to our online publications, we will continue to offer website design, email services and hosting and will now focus our full attention on expanding our portfolio of media products."
