Read To Achieve
In a first-year pilot program, four fourth-grade classes in Hampton Bays Elementary School participated in Read to Achieve, a program sponsored by the New York Knicks and Cablevision.
During this incentive-based program students are encouraged to read a variety of books. After reading the books, supplied by the program's sponsors, students earn rewards by posting work online, using follow-up materials, such as quizzes, based on the books they read. Through reading, students also are awarded the opportunity to win tickets to a Knicks game.
"This is a partnership we would like to continue to expand on next year. It was successful because of the students' dedication," stated Principal
Marc Meyer.
At the culmination of the program, the students were recognized by Principal Marc Meyer, Superintendent of Schools Joanne Loewenthal, Town of Southampton Councilwoman Nancy Grabowski, and Cablevision liaisons Joan Gilroy and Martha Turner, and were given certificates of completion.

Students Inducted into the National Honor Society

Know your strengths, your limitations, your compulsions, and use them to your advantage," stated Principal Richardt as he imparted final words of wisdom on the students.
Tenaglia had the pleasure of sharing with invited guests the myriad of achievements, activities, and hobbies each new inductee had attained or participated in throughout their high school career, which aided in their acceptance into the Honor Society.
