Indonesian Textile And Holiday Sale Returning To The Hamptons For Two Weekends

Nicole Barylski

Before you get overwhelmed with the holiday rush, stock up on a selection of interesting, beautiful finds that will most likely inspire a case of wanderlust.

"The holidays are approaching and the Indonesian Textile and Holiday Sale is a great opportunity to buy the finest crafts and textiles of Southeast Asia at Ashawagh Hall," noted organizer Rose Halsey. "I travel over there every year and design and work with the local people. I spend my entire summer there."

"The sale will feature Ikat weavings from all the many islands of Indonesia," Halsey shared.

And that's not the only extraordinary, rare offering one will find. A wide selection of unique handmade items created by artisans from the Indonesian islands will also be available. "Masks, wood carvings, batik clothing, incense, silk scarves, cotton scarves, men's clothing, women's clothing, children's clothing, unique ornaments, sarongs, jewelry, housewares, Balinese kites, mantra flags, prayer flags, Buddha sculpture, silver jewelry, baskets of all shapes and sizes, wind chimes, gongs, musical instruments and much, much more - there is something for everyone!" she said.

The exceptional display will be highlighted for two weekends, open on Friday, November 17 from 12:30 to 6 p.m., Saturday, November 18 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, November 19 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 22 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday, November 24 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, November 25 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 26 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Halsey scours several locales to find remarkable items for this event. "All my sourcing is done on several islands in Indonesia: Bali, Lombok, Sumba, Borneo, Sumatra and Java," she said.

"Most of the products in this sale support cottage industry and part of the proceeds will go to orphanages in Bali and the island of Sumba," Halsey added. "I bring clothing and many things that are needed in to the orphanages when I visit."

Cash and all major credit cards are accepted.

Ashawagh Hall is located at 750 Springs Fireplace Road in East Hampton. For more information, call 631-807-9454 or 631-726-6671.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didn’t change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
