East Hampton Meets East Africa Open Studio, Trunk Show, And African Bazaar To Benefit The Voss Foundation

Lindsay Andarakis

To commemorate six years of giving and maintaining access to clean water in Kenya, photographer Beth O'Donnell and jewelry designer Carolyn Roumeguere are hosting East Hampton Meets East Africa, a three day open studio trunk show and African Bazaar at O'Donnell's East Hampton studio.

A percentage of the artists' sales from Friday, August 8, through Sunday, August 10, 2014 will be donated directly to the Voss Foundation. Furthermore, all sales from the Foundation's African Bazaar will be donated to the Voss Foundation.

Both O'Donnell and Roumeguere have a special connection to Africa. O'Donnell spent two months working in Kenya and was a guest on Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Network twice for her work with Angels in the Slums and AIDS and Orphans. O'Donnell's book "Angels in Africa" was published in 2006. Roumeguere grew up in Kenya with the Maasai as the daughter of a social anthropologist and Massai warrior. She currently dedicates part of her time and effort to causes that provide education, healthcare and freedom.

The African Bazaar is a beautifully put together collection of jewelry, accessories, home goods, and assorted crafts made in the countries where the Foundation works. Many of these good were handmade by artisans who benefit directly from Voss Foundation's clean water, sanitation and hygiene projects.

The Voss Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to providing access to clean water to communities in Sub-Saharan Africa and raising consciousness of ongoing and increasing need to the region. It was founded by the directors of Voss of Norway ASA in 2008, and has positively impacted the lives of over 100,000 people in Kenya, Mali, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia and Swaziland.

East Hampton Meets East Africa will take place Friday, August 8, through Sunday, August 10, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Beth O'Donnell's East Hampton studio is located at 164 Bull Path in East Hampton. For more information about the Voss Foundation, visit www.vossfoundation.org.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
