On Saturday, July 26, 2014, the 17th Annual Super Saturday sponsored by QVC attracted hundreds of shopaholics to the Nova’s Ark Project to indulge in the best bargains in designer brands, gourmet catering and family fun games and activities. Known as “the Rolls Royce of garage sales,” the world famous event was hosted by Kelly Ripa and Donna Karan, and raised $3.5 million for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF).
As always, the event’s red carpet was a success with celebrities including Kelly Ripa, Donna Karan, Alec Baldwin, Hilaria Baldwin, Beth Stern, Lisa Rinna, Kathy Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Rachel Zoe, Jonathan Cheban, Kelly Rutherford, Joy Behar, Gayle King, Jill Martin, Joe Zee, Chef Janine Booth, Katie Lee, Nanette Lepore, Star Jones, June Ambrose, Fern Mallis, Ali Wentworth, Ben Shenkman, Adam Pally, Cameron Silver, Vita Sidorkina, Judy Giuliani, and Diem Brown, stopping by.
On the carpet, the “Live With Kelly & Michael” co-host spoke about her dedication to the cause and said she became an avid supporter of ovarian cancer research after her childhood friend died from the disease. She also dished to Hamptons.com about a recent birthday extravaganza she attended in the Hamptons. This past Friday, Ripa and husband, Mark Consuelos, attended Jennifer Lopez’s 45th birthday celebration in Southampton at the private garden at Nammos Restaurant. Ripa brought JLo flowers and told us she had an amazing time at the party, but, unfortunately, she had to leave early as her husband had work early the next morning.
Over 200 prominent designers and a few emerging brands were featured at the Hamptons fundraiser, including Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, INTERMIX, Vince, IRO and Milly. Shoppers were also treated to the “Designers A to Zoe” booth, which was curated by Rachel Zoe for the seventh consecutive year and featured pieces from Zoe’s favorite designers like Oscar De La Renta, Etro, J. Mendel and Stella McCartney.
Although there were plenty of designer booths to browse through, unfortunately, some remained empty during the super shopping event, as a trailer of donated merchandise was stolen a few days before the event. That didn’t put a damper on the day, as many of the vendors scrambled for merchandise and came up with last minute replacements.
When attendees needed a break from browsing through the rows of vendors, they stopped by one of the many attractions such as hair styling at Priv’s Braid Bar, psychic readings with Betsy Wahmann, an on-site luxury raffle, the Rolls-Royce photo booth, a kid’s carnival and lunch provided by Sant Ambroeus. The children’s area was a hit with celeb moms and dads. Kelly Ripa stopped by LYSS Stern’s Camp DivaLysscious for a new accessory, a batman glitter tattoo on her arm. June Ambrose, Aliza Licht, Shoshanna Loenstein Gruss, and Jill Martin also stopped by.
This year, OCRF and QVC teamed up again for “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE,” a live, on-site broadcast, offering viewers across the nation the chance to get in on the Super Saturday action.
