- Eastern Long Island Hospital announced the appointment of Caroline V. Gatewood
, MD to the Board of Trustees Class of 2011. Dr. Gatewood is a neurologist on the medical staff since 2001. Dr. Gatewood received her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She completed a one year residency in Internal Medicine followed by a three year residency in Neurology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Gatewood held the position of Assistant Professor of Neurology at SUNY, Stony Brook for five years, before starting her solo private practice in neurology on the North Fork of Long Island.
Dr. Gatewood is board certified in Neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Gatewood diagnoses and treats patients with disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles, including stroke, Parkinson's disease, memory disorders, NPH (Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus), myasthenia gravis and peripheral neuropathies.

Year-round residents of Hampton Bays, Caroline and her husband, Robert, enjoy spending time on the East End of Long Island. Dr. Gatewood's interests include reading, music, swimming, kayaking and gardening. She is also a classical and jazz flutist.
