has proclaimed May 12, 2010 as Health Care Auxilian Day in New York State to recognize the dedicated auxilians who annually donate more than five million hours of service to their health care facilities and to their communities.
Eastern Long Island Hospital pays special tribute to the many Auxilians and Volunteers, who during the past year, raised $346,000 and collectively contributed over 30,000 hours of service. The Auxilians contribute greatly to their community hospital as in-service volunteers and run the Gift Shop and Opportunity Shop for ELIH. Annual fundraising events include luncheons, card parties, plant sales, book fairs and most recently a car raffle to raise funds for hospital services.
New York State has more than 75,000 health care auxilians who initiate, fund, and volunteer for a wide variety of patient and family care services. Today we pay tribute to Auxilians everywhere, but especially, here on the North Fork and Shelter Island, for their commitment and tireless efforts.
