The Hamptons was recently named among the top five fall vacation spots according to FlipKey.com, a vacation rental marketplace. The site ranked the Long Island hotspot as the second best destination to visit during the fall shoulder season, between high and low travel times.
Visiting the Hamptons in the fall gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy everything the East End has to offer while also allowing them to save money on vacation rentals and avoid big summer crowds. FlipKey.com believes that September, October, and November are the prime months to visit.
“Prices begin to plummet after Labor Day and not only can you find great deals during the shoulder season, but the amount of vacationers is substantially less,” said FlipKey’s Vice President of Marketing, Eric Horndahl. “You might end up having the beach all to yourself.”
Myrtle Beach ranked first on the list followed by the Hamptons, Charleston, Hilton Head and the Catskills. “Myrtle Beach is our number one pick for shoulder season travel this fall, where you’re still looking at temperatures in the low 80s during September, which is plenty warm for sun, sand and beach activities,” Horndahl said.
For the Hamptons, FlipKey.com reports that vacationers can save up to 30 percent during the off season, when the average price per night is $584 compared to $809 during the popular summer season.
