For Sachin + Babi NYFW S/S 18, manicurist Geraldine Holford took inspiration from the texture of the sequins used in the Spring/Summer 2018 collection. The master manicurist created a French manicure with Dermelect’s ‘Sophisticate’ (a cool cashmere taupe) that was complimented with a silver leaf for the French tip.
How To Achieve The Look:
1 To begin the manicure, prep the nails with Dermelect Cosmeceuticals’ Launchpad Nail Strengthener, a peptide-infused base coat that hydrates and strengthens while preventing against chipping and splitting.
2. Next, paint the nails with two coats of Dermelect’s ‘Sophisticate,’ a cool cashmere taupe hue.
3. After painting the color, apply nail foil glue on the tips of each nail and allow it to dry for several minutes. Next, tape the foil onto the glue – you want the foil tip to resemble the look of a French manicure (the tip should not be too wide and too thin). Holford used a silver nail foil from www.dollarnailart.com for this look.
4. Once each nail has a foil tip, apply a coat of Dermelect’s gel-like Memento Manicure Extender top coat, which offers a mirror-like shine and a long last-lasting finish.
5. To complete the metallic French manicure, apply Dermelect’s Revital-Oil Nail & Cuticle Treatment. This luxurious cuticle oil contains multiple nourishing oils to helps soothe and soften the cuticles and protein peptides to strengthen the nails.
“When I am working backstage, this is one of my favorite’s topcoats to use because of how fast-drying it is,” Holford said about Dermelect’s gel-like Memento Manicure Extender. “Within minutes, the models can get dressed without worry about smudging their nails, and better yet, the topcoat extends the life of the manicure, maintaining its hi-gloss finish.”
