North Wales - Luxury interior designer
Kenneth Bordewick of Beverly Hill Luxury Interiors was recently chosen by
Price William and
Kate Middleton to decorate their 4,000 square foot farmhouse in Anglesey, North Wales. The royal couple will be moving into their first home together shortly after their April 29 nuptials.
"It's amazing to be chosen. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and they're quite nice people. It makes you step back and think 'Oh my God, how did I get here?'" said Bordewick.
Interior designer to stars such as
Mariah Carey,
Sir Paul McCartney and
Michael Jackson, Bordewick was flown in secret to London earlier this month to meet with the royal couple to discuss the design which will be warm, contemporary, yet reflective of the couple's young, newlywed status. "Our vision is to make it young, vital and fun," explained Bordewick.
For inspiration, Bordewick drew on a story told to him by
Her Majesty The Queen of her newlywed days living in Malta with her husband
Prince Phillip. "She lived freely like a normal young woman who was married." Said Bordewick, "She reflects on it as the happiest time in her life and wants her grandson to have the same experience."
Perhaps the most exciting part of the project will be Bordewick's access to the Royal Collections warehouses, which are full of furniture and art dating back centuries.
Aside from his work with the newest royal couple, Bordewick has also worked for His Royal Highness
Charles Prince of Wales, the former King of Saudi Arabia, the Queen of Sweden, the Crowned Prince of Spain, as well as other European, Middle Eastern and British royal family members. "We've worked with a lot of royals and they like us because we're famous for not divulging their secrets. We make sure that everything we do is quiet. We don't share any of the private stuff," said Bordewick.
Sources say that outside of the royal couple's new home in North Wales, Bordewick will also work at Kensington Palace, the happy home in which
Prince William grew up with his late mother,
Princess Diana.
