Southampton - Rose Day - All Day! A show all about roses and a spectacular garden tour to be held on Saturday, June 20. This is the day all rose lovers should attend, enter - or do both! The Southampton Rose Society's Annual Rose Day will present a spectacular Rose Show where more than 100 ribbons and many trophies will be awarded! The event will take place at the Rogers Memorial Library in the Morris Room and Terrace, 91 Coopers Farm Road, Southampton. The show and exhibits will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free - so come join the fun!
Sponsored by Lynch's Garden Center, the Rose Show will include all varieties of roses - Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, Polyantha, Modern and Classic Shrubs, Climbers and Ramblers, Old Garden Roses and Mini-Roses. While most of the classes exhibit roses skillfully grown by members of the SRS and affiliates of the American Rose Society, there will be a Beginners' class for everyone in the community to enter any or several rose varieties to win ribbons! Entries should be taken to the Morris Room at the RML on Saturday between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The entry fee is $5 and there will be plenty of experts to make your roses look like winners!
On Saturday, June 27, between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., The Southampton Rose Society will also hold a garden tour of four magnificent Southampton Village estate gardens that have never before been open to the public! To obtain maps and tickets the day of the show go to the Rogers Memorial Library Rose Garden. Tickets are $75 each or $65 each if paid in advance on line at www.southampton-rose-society.org or by calling 631-204-0107. This is a benefit for the SRS Rose Garden Endowment Fund, the Southampton Village Beautification projects and the good works of the SRS.
The Southampton Rose Society is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization affiliated with the American Rose Society. The SRS created and maintains the Rose Garden at the Rogers Memorial Library as a gift to the townspeople and the Village of Southampton. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law, and funds are used to support the SRS Rose Garden and community service programs.
