East Hampton - There is something so alluring about a pair of jeans. They are without a doubt the sexiest, most all-American, and most practical piece of clothing we can wear. As a stylist and personal shopper I know the importance in having denim in your closet, and this season designers took it to the next level with infinite washes, cuts, and styles. The distressed boyfriend jeans are probably the most practical, while those cut-off shorts are perhaps the most unassuming yet seductive piece of clothing that you can imagine.
Here Are A Few Ways To Style Our Favorite Fabric
Denim Jacket: A must have piece this season, but make sure you keep it looking modern. Try wearing it with an ivory or floral dress and maybe throw on a brown belt to tie it together. Wedges or flats work with this look so try both. If you have an old jean jacket and it looks totally outdated, try cutting off the sleeves and turning it into a denim vest. This can work for any body type so take advantage.
Denim Dress or Romper: Accessories are key to this look so keep it romantic with a skinny belt or toughen it up with a wide one. If you skip the belt, throw on a fedora or straw hat and some cuffs or chunky bracelets. Booties or cowboy boots are best for this look.
Denim Shirt: My favorite way to style this piece is with a feminine skirt (think ruffled or floral) and a brown wide belt to ease the contrast. I would pair it with some cowboy boots or leather flats. Obsessed with D&G's denim looks this season.

Jean Shorts: As I mentioned earlier, these are perhaps the sexiest piece of clothing a woman can wear without looking like she's trying too hard. Current/Elliott cut-off jean shorts are almost guaranteed to make your legs look amazing and flatter your toosh. Pair them with a flowy boho top or crocheted sweater and stick to flat sandals or cowboy boots.
Distressed Denim: Try them with a striped or solid top and add a blazer if it's a little chilly. To keep your legs looking long and lean, try a pair of cropped jeans with wedges. For longer distressed skinny jeans, throw on a pair of neutral booties and brown watch to keep a classic look.
Denim On Denim: This is the trickiest way to wear jeans and in my opinion it should be left on the runway. But if you are feeling up to the challenge the most important accessory to remember is a belt. Another tip is to keep the shirt a shade or two lighter than the pants. Or try wearing jeans and a denim jacket - but make sure to add a pop of color or pattern on the shirt underneath.
Denim Accessories: Pair your floral dress with a denim messenger bag, or try a pair of wedges with denim detail. If you look good in hats, try a denin hat.

Guest (Lucy Martin) from Bridgehampton, NY says:
Your artical is great ! Jeans are certainly always going to be in style. I remember a picture of Doris Day in a great pair of jeans in the 1950's. Sexy then and sexy now! If I may suggest, pairing vintage clothing and jeans is not only fun but also GREEN ! I own,"OUT OF THE CLOSET" vintage clothing in Bridgehampton and we have wonderful pieces from Victorian and Edwardian to the 1970's that would be fabulous with jeans. We are also having sales all summer long.
