Southampton - If during your Hamptons revelry this spring you somehow break the 25 mile per hour Southampton speed limit, you may detect a refined Parisian aroma wafting from the local police.
Bottles of fragrances from the 250 year-old CREED fragrance dynasty have been sent to the police chief and his top three officers. CREED sent a supply of Silver Mountain Water samples to the rest of the force. All of the fragrances are expected to arrive this week.
That's because the CREED fragrance company wanted to celebrate its first spring in the Hamptons (at Saks Fifth Avenue in Southampton), and has sent bottles of its blends - including Royal Water, Original Santal and Virgin Island Water - to the Southampton Village Police Department as a "gesture of greeting to those whose selfless sacrifice keeps the community safe."
CREED is the world's only privately held luxury fragrance dynasty, passed from father to son since 1760. Since its founding, CREED has served more than eight royal houses. In fact, CREED's first client was
King George III.
CREED's famed clientele includes
Napoleon III and his wife,
Empress Eugenie,
Queen Victoria,
Eva Peron,
Howard Hughes,
Aristotle Onassis and many others.
CREED doesn't comment on the celebrities who are its current clientele, but has revealed that some stars have gone out of their way to tell the press they wear CREED, including
Beyonce.
Perhaps some of the newer celebrities to be recognized, if not by face, will be by scent, and that's the men in blue in Southampton.
In celebration of its 250th anniversary in 2010, CREED opened its only stand-alone boutique at 794 Madison Avenue at 67th Street in Manhattan (1-877-CREED 44). It has also made an historic arrival in the Hamptons, the perfumer's first entry into the community. Otherwise, CREED is available nationally at Neiman Marcus.
CREED has a great history of supporting worthy causes. For example, CREED flew soaps and hair-and-body washes to U.S. troops serving in
Iraq and was recognized with two Army medallions for doing so.
