East Hampton -
Jane Lipman Post is the Design Director of
Jane Post, an ultra-chic collection of rainwear and coats that are both fashion-forward and functional with a modern wearability. As an avid shopper early on, Post had recognized a void in the rainwear market and began designing her own styles. Soon after, Post became the design force behind Drizzle, the raincoat company she built with her late husband
Jack Lipman. After Drizzle was bought by Fairbrooke in 1995, she remained president of the division until she retired in the late 1990s to enjoy life with her new husband,
Bernard Post.
Known in the fashion industry and by her loyal fans as the go-to woman for rainwear, Saks Fifth Avenue asked Post to re-enter the design world to bring glamour and excitement back to their raincoat division. With flat coat sales, Saks Fifth Avenue buyers knew that Jane was the woman to turn the raincoat department around. It was then that the Jane Post label was born; a collection of rainwear and coats set apart by their impeccable fits, inspired details and stylish quirks. Whether it be a striped lining inspired by a shoe box (yes, she claims she bought the shoes for the box!), or a trench coat with a zip-out cashmere liner, Post knows how to make an extraordinary looking coat.
In addition to her devotion to fit and quality, Post is passionate about keeping her customers cozy and dry all year-round. "On a rainy night I count the Jane Post coats in a crowd," she says. "It is truly rewarding to see women wearing my designs, and to know that I am helping them stay comfy and chic!" The coats are available at Saks, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales.
