With the Golden Globes kicking off the 2013 awards season, all eyes were on which Hollywood fashionistas would be on the best dressed list. The biggest fashion trends from the night included cutouts, embellishment, big volume and dresses in a bold red/orange hue. Many stars including Julianne Hough, Kate Hudson, Emily Blunt and Nicole Kidman indulged in more than one of the hot trends.
Amanda Seyfriend took home a Golden Globe for “Les Misérables” which won Best Motion Picture for a Comedy or Musical. She looked stunning in a custom lace gown with cutouts from Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci. Halle Berry took a risk with a one shoulder patterned Atelier Versace dress which featured an abs-revealing cutout and slit to the hip.
Kristen Bell pulled off pregnancy chic in a Jenny Packham dress with an embellished top. Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley on “Downton Abbey” which won for Best TV Series, Drama, wore a embellished golden mock turtleneck Alexandre Vauthier gown.
Many celebs mixed the hot trends including Naomi Watts who mixed the cutout and volume trends with a mermaid cut Zac Posen dress. Kate Hudson wore an Alexander McQueen black cutout dress with embroidery around the neck and Emily Blunt stunned in a cutout embellished golden Michael Kors gown. Nicole Kidman also mixed the embellishment and cutout trends with an Alexander McQueen gown.
It was an emotional night for Jodie Foster who brought the crowd to tears during her speech where she announced her coming out for the first time in public. Foster was on-trend in an embellished blue Giorgio Armani gown.
Dresses with volume whether it be a princess or mermaid cut were huge on the red carpet. Zooey Deschanel stood out in a princess cut Oscar de la Renta sweetheart gown. Jennifer Lawrence, who won Best Actress in a Comedy for “Silver Linings Playbook,” was definitely a best dressed nominee in a Dior Haute Couture gown. Lucy Liu chose a feminine and floral princess-style Carolina Hererra gown. Amy Adams chose a nude colored Marchesa mermaid dress with lace and tulle.
Many stars including Marion Cotilard in Dior, Jennifer Lawrence, Zooey Deschanel and winner of Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama, “Homeland” actress Claire Danes wearing Atelier Versace chose to go bold with wearing a red/orange hue dress.
