What To Pack For A Vacation

East Hampton - A few weeks ago I hosted a shopping event at the Elie Tahari store in East Hampton. Presuming the customers would ask me what I love in the store right now or what would look great on them, I was a bit taken aback when asked (not once, but multiple times) for suggestions on what to pack for an upcoming vacation.

Interestingly enough, most people don't consider a weekend in the Hamptons to be vacation. Perhaps it's because the towns are so small and crowded they are slowly caving in on us, or maybe it's because we inevitably run into the same people every weekend (many of whom we are either avoiding or secretly stalking). Or it could be those Friday nights that end at 5A a.m. despite our tedious work week, or the commute back and forth from NYC that makes us feel as stressed and anxious as when we arrived. Regardless of the reason, it seems by September most of us need a vacation from our Hamptons vacations.

So whether you're jetting off to London for the opening of LN-CC (standing for Late Night Chameleon Café, an ever evolving space for art, fashion and music) or coming to NYC for FNO, Fashion Week, or to see Deborah Anderson's sexy/modern/rock & roll artwork in the newest Gansevoort on Park Avenue, packing can be a buzz kill.
