Pioneering 15,000 Mile Bus Trip From London To New York Set To Arrive In NYC

New York City - Eighteen intrepid bus adventurers aged between 18 and 81 will roll up in New York City on Sunday, June 20, having covered an astonishing 15,000 miles since setting off on a pioneering and historic bus trip from the heart of the British capital, London, at 7 a.m. on March 21.

Remarkably, despite passing through Europe, Russia, China, Alaska, Canada and 12 U.S. states, the passengers on the bus will not have taken a single flight throughout the entire trip.

Furthermore one intrepid traveller has arranged to return to London by freight ship, and in doing so will have fulfilled her dream of travelling all the way around the globe without setting foot on an aircraft.

It is no small irony that since departing London's iconic Big Ben on March 21 the group of travellers has left behind many thousands of air passengers grounded by a wave of British Airways cabin crew strikes and the closure of British airspace twice due to volcanic ash.

The bus will roll over the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City during the afternoon on Sunday, June 20, a full three months after leaving London. During this time, some of the many once-in-a-lifetime experiences that the passengers will have experienced include dining with Nomads, sleeping in a traditional Mongolian tent, and staying in a homestead on Russia's mysterious Lake Baikal. The bus has not been the sole form of transport; the group has also been fortunate enough to travel on the Trans-Siberian Railway and embark on a 16 day sea crossing from Beijing to Alaska.

Over 60 percent of the passengers who choose to travel with Oz-Bus are over 35, and for many the decision reflects their desire to take a midlife career-break or simply step off the relentless merry-go-round of day-to-day life.

Testimonials from previous passengers on the London to Sydney bus trips show that they won't be disappointed. During almost 100 days of travel from London to New York, during which time the country they left behind saw unprecedented changes to its political landscape, many of the passengers
will also have gone though remarkable life-changing experiences of their own.

Entrepreneur Alastair Chrystal, who bought the company in 2009, has been responsible for implementing a strong responsible travel policy using local guides and drivers, and ensuring that his passengers leave the lowest possible carbon footprint behind. He says "There is strong evidence that
the trend for this type of slow, life-enriching travel is growing in the UK and Europe; indeed, a number of our passengers on board the London to New York bus have already experienced Oz-Bus's established London to Sydney overland trip which runs several times a year. They couldn't wait to get on board for our latest journey."

Tickets for the next London-New York trip, due to depart on March 25, 2011, have already started to sell out, and Chrystal hopes to make this particular overland journey, which costs £6,999 per person including all accommodation,
transport and breakfast, a regular fixture in the Oz-Bus calendar.

Furthermore, any U.S. travellers who also want to see the world from another perspective other than 35,000 feet will be interested to know that Oz-Bus is currently planning to run the trip in reverse, from New York to London, (dates to be confirmed).
