I'm thrilled with the way my garden is blooming with new life. My herbs are looking beautiful! I do love Manhattan but being back home in East Hampton is amazing. France has nothing on our little community either. We have a wonderful seafood shoppe, 2 great gourmet grocery stores, a country gourmet food shoppe, and a BBQ place very close. I drove over Georgica Road this afternoon on my way to the local BBQ restaurant. On the way back, I wound my way back around Georgica Road and Lily Pond Lane. Fabulous indeed.

My friends and I will be on the beach in a couple of weeks. I'm trying out some new picnic recipes and thought Cooper Beach would be a perfect place. I love my Main Beach, but Cooper is beautiful too. The sky is so beautiful today....well, back to the computer to finish up my work.

It's 230AM CT in my town. The super moon is high above shining bright white light through my cottage windows. The dogs have been howling and the peacock from his perch in the treetop outside my window is shouting. Outside, the river is running deep, dead silent and dark. Coopers Beach is alive in the dark. Imagine. You CAN be in two beautiful places at exactly the same time! My thanks to those responsible for Coopers Beach who made my moment a memory.

Thanks so much Mel. I would love for your help in the garden. Hope you will be able to visit our beautiful town soon. Yesterday, I strolled up to Starbucks with my husband. Walking by the Old Clinton Academy, I noticed how beautiful the trees were and how serene our town is. The summer awaits us with outdoor barbeques and strolls in the evening. It doesn't get any better than this.

Yep bchbum, it's the rain we had last weekend. Getting another downpour today, Sunday, so here it comes. I think maybe the first week in October for Picnic...we can wait till first of September to decide. Chloe, I have two cats, Molly and Sage. Molly is the calico. Sage is too, but only on the ears and tail. Last year, I visited after the hurricane, first of October, and it was beautiful....we will play it by ear. Lookin' forward to it. Chole, Oh how we all wish we could make it go away. It's ruined many a good beach day:( It is just another weather condition like rain or snow, we have no control over it. Payloader is a large bull dozer with a shovel on the back of it. BMN, I think we will have a lot more than 3 for the picnic. There is a group of 6-9 of us who would be there, depending on the day etc:)

Chloe, fog is formed when the air temp is warmer than the water. (condensation) It can be pretty thick and moist with almost zero visiablity. Very common on the eastern end of LI and near any body of water.

bchbum11968 ...

bchbum11968 says:
bmn, that sounds like a great idea!!! I'm in:) I would love to meet you. Kathy, that is the payloader that spreads the sand and evens it out. Over the winter the sand is moved around a lot. It collects behind the fence, it blows, the water moves it so it is bulldozed and leveled so it is easier to walk on. The other is the beach sweeper. This is a VERY welcome sight for us beach goers, it means the season is almost here!!!

You are SO right on that one coopsbeachguard1:) They work their tails off, as does everyone, to make this beach the best in the country!!!! It isn't easy, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that no one sees. The kids out in the booth checking stickers and selling day passes also pitch in with the clean up. It's hot out there and they help out with everything as well. We are indeed very fortunate!!

coopsbeachguard1 ...

coopsbeachguard1 says:
And in addition to being raked daily, most of the credit should go to the boys at the chair and umbrella rentals who walk the beach and parking lot every morning with garbage bags and pickers, the beach certainly doesn't clean itself. The kids put in hard work every morning picking up what the rake misses (it typically just gets the big stuff, not cig butts, cups magazines etc)

Hi bmn:) The lifeguard stand will be back for Memorial Day weekend! That's awful your beaches have medical waste etc all over them. Pirates are usually the "bad guys", so if you own any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, throw them out. If you've watched any of them, forget you ever did. And for heaven's sake, please don't ever let your children be pirates for Halloween! Just don't; the taste is poor.

Southampton was borne through honest sea route trading by the 'good guys'. The Jolly Roger represents piracy. Pirates are the 'bad guys'. Many of our good relatives died under that flag. Perhaps a statement, perhaps innocent fun. Either way; poor taste.

Posted: 74 days ago

Guest (Bonnie) from Arcadia, Ca says:
Yes, the lifeguard shack will be back up soon. Maybe you can put it away until the fence goes up again bchbum. I have grown very attached to the ribbon and would not like to see it get lost. What does eveyone else think? No shaking here yet bchbum, but I have been through some shakers a few times. Not fun. Have a good week in the Hamptons!

I sure hope you don't get a lot of shaking!! I will have to remove that ribbon in a few weeks as the fence will be taken down. Just thinking of where to put it once they do. When the lifeguard stand gets put back (Memorial Day) I could hang it off of that but in the mean time I'll have to think of something:)

We are 375 miles South of the San Fran area but something is going to shake pretty good real soon. Yikes! Thanks for taking care our ribbon bchbum.

Kathy I did see the picture ini Newsday. It was a pretty wild day at the beach. Briefly drove by but the sand was blasting the car so I didn't stay. Bonnie, I will look around for a ribbon etc to hang on the fence. I'll try for later today or tomorrow. Hello to CA:) The weather out here is unpredictable. Sometimes we have a real spring but most of the time it's cool and rainy turning to summer with nothing in between. April it starts to warm up but most of the time there is no spring, we go right into summer. This year may be different, it hasn't been too cold here all winter. Today is in the 50's and we've had quite a few of those days and that's not normal. However I will take it, HATE the cold!!!

Posted: 83 days ago

Guest (Bonnie) from Arcadia, Ca says:
I have an idea.....could someone tie a ribbon onto the fence for us? That would be cool! That way, we could see how windy it is. Hello to everyone in The Hamptons! A special hello for bchbum.

Hi bchbum...did you see today's (Sunday) Newsday, a photographer took a picture of a woman walking on the beach as she "braves strong gusts as she makes her way along Coopers Beach in Southampton."

Barry, we wrote "Hi" in the sand for you today, but I think the cam has changed position slightly and you won't be able to read it.

Guest (Bonnie) from Arcadia, Ca says:
Thanks bchbum.....that's cool they get to drive on the beach like that. I will watch for them. When does it usually start warming up in The Hamptons?

Posted: 84 days ago

bchbum11968 ...

bchbum11968 says:
Bonnie, those tracks you see are most likely local folks w 4wd vehicles just driving on the beach, often it's fisherman depending on the time of year. The beaches are patrolled too but not as often at this time of year. It's been very windy here so not much will stay on the beach, it will be covered with sand pretty quick. It's been rough too so the water comes up and erases anything as well.

Posted: 84 days ago

Guest (Bonnie) from Arcadia, Ca says:
The ocean is beautiful this morning. I saw vehicle tracks on the sand a couple of days ago, must have been the beach patrol? Have a great day in The Hamptons. I was busy typing and didn't see the new tracks! I will keep watching.....

I came upon this live web cam and became intrigued to discover I could watch people having fun on a beach thousands of miles away from me. I am curious though about the view to the right as you look at the sea. I have seen so many people stop to take a photo in that direction - someone tell me what you can see...please.

Guest (Bonnie) from Arcadia, CA says:
It is cold here this morning....actually 50 degrees! Ha ha, couldn't resist rubbing it in a bit. East Hampton is beautiful and photogenic no matter what the season is. When I was there I noticed that the live cams were not so live. I was sitting in the Village East parking lot but I never saw my car on the live cam. Not sure what was up with that. Anyone have any ideas?

Guest (Mel) from Keller, TX says:
Hope to see the Southampton cam back. Good morning Cooper's Beach! It is still dark here in TX. Have a great day, everyone!

Guest (Doug) from Texas says:
I used to have a 2nd home in Hampton Bays so I find looking at the beach cam really nice. I miss the Hamptons a lot tho I don't miss the winters . I have a LOT of great memories of my many years up there. It was one of the best times of my life and appreciate those memories more, the older I get.

Guest (barry moskowitz) from Pinewood Manor says:
One of the most gorgeous beaches I've ever seen. Respectivly drive into the loop, and witness the priceless view.( well, kinda priceless. You know what, let's just say inimaginible view). Although the parking lot lights marred the sunset, I am looking forward to one day seeing the sunrise over that beach. p.s. and there was a place I could pee so I didn't have to go behind the dunes. Sincerely, barry

You guys are so lucky to live in The Hamptons. I miss it terribly. It was a special time for me while I was there. Such nice small towns. I cannot wait to visit again next year.

Guest (Bonnie) from Beverly Hills Office says:
Moby, that is too funny!!!! I knew Ina had them and I think she has a Blackberry so my charger did not work on her phone. All kidding aside, my trip made me appreciate where I live. I enjoyed The Hamptons and NYC. That was fun!!! I had a night mare after I got home. I dreamed Ina was in a witch costume and was with other women dressed in witch costumes. Ina was smiling and saying hello. Barefoot Conwitcha my brother said.

Guest (Moby) from East Hampton says:
Ina has your shoes - she says she's keeping them even though they don't fit her properly. And she left your charger behind because she doesn't need another one - she already has 5.

Guest (Bonnie) from NYC says:
Only one bad thing on my trip....somebody liked my SAS shoes and my iphone charger as much as I did. I hope the individuals that took them have really bad karma. I have never had that happen and I have traveled many places. Oh well, it is hard to find good help.

Guest (Kitty) from Painted Post, NY says:
Drats! I didn't see your comment with the time in time, so I missed seeing you! I would have grabbed a screen shot and posted the url here. Any chance you can do it again?

Guest (Bonnie) from 1770 House says:
Well, it happened! I met Ina Garten although I don't remember much with all my blubbering (ugh). Ina was as gracious as possible. I think my emotional level was too high after an Inatini and 2 glasses of wine. I think poor Ina was scared a bit at my reaction. I see many celebs in Los Angeles but never anyone like Ina. I have been face to face with Governor Arnold when we used to go to the same breakfast place, The Rock Store, not thrilling. Ina was great!!!!!

Guest (Bonnie) from 1770 House says:
My dream has come true!!!! I met Ina Garten at dinner!!!!! Ina was so gracious an patient with all my tears. A lovely person. If I die tomorrow I can say I have done everything I wanted to do.

I had money but I guess the store didn't need it?

Guest (Kitty) from Painted Post, NY says:
